What is Lingipo?

We’re a small team of five people who got tired of learning English the boring way.
You know the drill. Textbooks. Grammar tables. “The cat sat on the mat.” Duolingo streaks that somehow never translate into actually understanding what people say in real life. You reach B1, maybe B2, feel pretty good about yourself — and then turn on a YouTube video and understand about 40% of it.
That gap between “I know English” and “I actually use English” is exactly why Lingipo exists.
The idea
It started with a simple observation: people learn languages fastest when they’re genuinely interested in what they’re consuming. Not when they’re grinding flashcards at 11pm to keep a streak alive.
So we built something around that idea. Real videos. Real articles. Content you’d actually want to watch and read — not because it’s “educational,” but because it’s interesting.
The trick is what happens when you don’t understand a word. Instead of alt-tabbing to Google Translate and losing your flow, you just click it. Translation appears instantly, the word gets added to your personal vocabulary, and a smart system figures out when to show it to you again before you forget it.
That’s it. No gamified nonsense. No talking owl. Just you, real content, and a system quietly doing the hard work of making new words stick.
How it works
Watch and read — we have videos and articles across different levels and topics. Real English, spoken and written by real people.
Click any word — about 4,000 of the most common English words are automatically highlighted as you read or watch. Blue means you’re still learning it. Green means you’ve got it. Click any highlighted word for an instant translation.
Practice daily — a spaced repetition system tracks everything you’ve encountered and decides what to review. Five minutes a day is enough. The system handles the scheduling so you don’t have to think about it.
Who we’re for
Honestly? People who’ve been “learning English” for years but still feel stuck.
If you can read this page without much trouble but freeze up during a real conversation, or if you understand your English teacher perfectly but struggle with native speakers on YouTube — that’s exactly who we built this for.
We’re not trying to teach you English from scratch. We’re trying to close that gap between knowing the language and actually living in it.
The team
We’re five people — some taught English for years, some built software, some did both. Lingipo is basically what happens when those two worlds collide and nobody stops them. 💪
One more thing
Lingipo is still growing. New videos, new articles, new features — we ship regularly and we read every piece of feedback we get.
If something isn’t working the way you’d expect, or you have an idea for something we should build — drop us a line. 📧 info@lingipo.com We actually read those emails.
