At, In, On Prepositions of Place: Simple Rules for Beginners
What are prepositions of place?
Prepositions of place help you describe where people, objects, and places are located: behind the museum, at the bus stop, in the city center.
Whether you’re asking for directions in a new town or explaining where to meet a friend, using the right preposition makes all the difference.
We use in, on and at to say where something is. They go before a noun.
An easy way to remember them: in is inside something, on is on a surface, and at is a point.

| Preposition | Idea | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| in | inside a space | |
| on | on a surface or a line | |
| at | at a point |
Prepositions of place can be difficult, because some of them are fixed phrases, like at home and on the bus. Learn these as whole phrases.
