IT'S BEAUTIFUL | Subnautica 2 - Part 1
B1
[music]
[music]
Good morning, J ladies. MY NAME IS JACK
THE GUY. WELCOME TO SUBNAUTIOUS 2. IT'S
TIME, BABY. Thank you to Unknown Worlds
for sending over a code. This game is
going to be in early access, which we
all know what that kind of means by now,
but this is a preview before the early
access. So stuff might be even more
broken or buggy or not completely the
way it's supposed to be. So there's
going to be some stuff in it anyway
that's a little janky because that's
just the nature of early access anyway.
There is multiplayer in the game now.
I'm not going to do that until much much
later. I don't know if there's any story
in the game yet. I guess we're just
going to have to jump in and find out.
Oh, I'm so excited.
The flight to the desert world Zura will
last 14 years. It is a one-way trip.
When you awaken, your new life begins.
Oh,
are we going to get shot down out of the
sky?
Cuz we're heading to a desert planet.
But we all know Subnotica isn't desert.
Whoa. Triage, Felix, Stone, and Tether.
Okay. Okay. Well, I got to go with Felix
cuz he's got some gray or blonde or
something in his hair. And I don't know
if you know this, my hair gray as [ __ ]
right now. Additional options coming
soon. Okay.
Ooh, I like the music.
>> Body print complete. PDA implant reset
to factory settings.
>> Wait, you printed me?
I know it said to select printer, but I
I don't know why I didn't put that
together.
I'm alive.
Puke all over my feet.
>> Warning. Atmospheric pressure above
human maximum.
>> Protected lifespan 13 minutes.
>> What?
>> Adaptation required.
>> Open the PDA. Open the PDA.
>> Alterara Cicada.
Whoa.
Do I adaptations? Do I get upgrades like
skill tree upgrades?
Okay. Inventory. Absolutely nothing
except my person blueprints. Mild acid.
Salvage titanium glass fiber grease.
Rubber standard air tank. Basic fins.
[laughter]
Reaper Leviathan.
Furniture. Oh, I can make a little
statue. Okay. What am I doing?
Adaptations. Highly pressurized air is
destroying your lungs. Adaptation
required. How do I do it? Adaptation.
I must go. I must learn. Whoa. Is this
where everyone can wake up? One, two,
three, four, five, six. Game's not six
player, is it? Okay. I can't go in there
for some reason. Help. I'm dying.
Advisor shell 2.4.1. Boot.
>> I am Noah. You're the QI. Your life is
my job. My job is your life. H
>> I wish I could make full introductions,
but courtesies must wait. We are both
going to die if we stay here. There's
another Noah node in the life pond
outside. Get me there and I can get us
both to safety.
>> Another Noah node. Okay, download Noah
image.
>> You are burning in slow motion under 60
atmospheres of pressure. Oxygen becomes
a neurotoxin. Nitrogen bubbles saturate
your flesh and pry your joints.
>> I DON'T NEED TO KNOW. I've opened the
door to the adaptation chamber. Your
printed body can borrow tricks from
indigenous life.
>> You'll feel better. You'll be better.
>> The last pioneer didn't make it to the
life pod. I'm activating their blackbox
signal. You will make it. That's why
you're the QI.
>> Okay. Legendary
>> user death imminent.
>> Proceed to adaptation.
>> Oxygen. WHOA.
WHAT IS THIS?
>> Next pioneer.
Your body can adapt survival traits from
a zeserin rat.
>> Proceed to the sampling pavilion.
>> I'm going to learn how to adapt from a
rat. The bolock.
>> Tempering detected. Uncataloged donor
organism in pavilion.
>> You told me to go here.
>> Team donor found.
>> You must adapt alien traits to survive.
>> Slap it.
Sample
adapting trimethylamine n oxide
synthesis. Pressure tolerance increased.
Vital signs stabilizing.
Congratulations.
This orb is now your relative.
>> How did I do that? Papa.
Papa. Do I look like you now? Did I
change? Is this me? Okay, I did it.
Oh,
>> you will make it. That's why.
>> Okay, it's the same thing. I'M HEADING
OUT. I'M GOING TO FIND YOU A NOAH NODE.
>> OH, YES. Big reveal.
>> Big reveal.
>> Adaptation.
>> Whoa. Sound design is awesome. This is
so cool.
I keep thinking that that's a monster.
Okay, I got a basic first aid kit.
I don't know what that just did.
Can I have a suit?
What is happening? What did I do? I
pumped something in there. Eva suit.
>> Barometric depth gauge activated.
>> Oh god. Oh god. Oh. Oh, I'm back.
>> Print terminated by
Barot Trauma. Parat trauma. I love that
game. Oh, okay. It's going to take me a
second to get back in because that
scared the [ __ ] out of me. I just
realized I'm 580 m down.
Is that what that means?
Holy [ __ ] Oh, it's scary. Oh, it's so
scary.
>> A serious accident has occurred.
>> You're in my pants. Yes. ated from the
cicada.
You must reach the surface and send a
distress call.
>> Holy [ __ ]
>> Black box unknown to view PDA. LEAVE ME
ALONE.
>> Are no other life ports in inventory.
Unless you can return with rescue,
hundreds of stored colonists will remain
trapped here.
>> I'm I'm overwhelmed already. Set reprint
point. Oh, is this like my Henry from
the first game?
Customize Pioneer. I don't really want
to customize him too much. Maybe a
different suit.
H
maybe a yellow.
All right. Are you the Noah node? Hold
on. A power fabricator maybe.
Rosette V digital life pod emergency
mode. Upload noetic advisor.
Done. Thank you. The sleep bay was
extremely confined. Assess mission
state.
Assess. Is this a good thing I'm doing?
Anytime I interact with AI and stuff
that sci-fi tends to go bad.
>> My full name is Noetic Advisor Node. ISV
CISB3.
Rolls off the top. Between us, I prefer
Noah. You are the Qi,
>> the qualified investigator. [music]
Wear it with pride.
>> Sure.
>> We have made violent planet fall. I
don't know the status of the pioneer
colonists, the cicada, or the 40,000
souls stored in its courts memory. I am
just one Noah node. I print and support
the colonist stored in Sleep Bay 3. But
if things go wrong, I am authorized to
print a QI or two for troubleshooting.
If we're going to complete the mission
to build a human future on this world,
you will have to lead the way. Are you
ready to begin?
>> So, you're saying that you're Noah and
your ark has brought us here. And even
though Adam wasn't on that, I'm the atom
of this world.
>> I can't release the life pod. The clamps
have corroded shut. The tyranny of
matter. You'll have to swim out and
release them manually. They're on the
back of the pod outside the passenger
window. Mind your breath.
>> You'll have to swim out and release them
manually. They're opposite the hatch
outside the passenger window.
>> I can't release the life button.
>> Okay. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Oh, just
there. No, that's another
that's this thing which I didn't know I
was doing.
Am I Is this all underground?
Okay, I'm sorry. I already forgot what
I'm supposed to be doing.
It's these, right?
Okay. Can I get in here? I'm very aware
of my oxygen.
Oxygen. Is she going to say it?
>> Oxygen.
>> Yeah.
Love that. Okay.
IT'S TERRIFYING OUT THERE. YOU DON'T
WANT TO KNOW, HAL. IT'S [ __ ] AWFUL.
Let me get another look at it.
Oh god, we're so deep already.
SUBNOTICA ONE HAD YOU start on the
surface. At least the ocean surface.
Oh, gives me the [ __ ] jebies. Okay,
launch.
Oh, I'm going into it and then I'm
getting out of here.
>> Trajectory.
>> No. Up. Up.
>> YEAH, BABY. [screaming] OH, NO.
>> Clearing main thrusters.
>> That didn't go well at all.
This better not be a piece of a
creature. Thruster function restored.
Brace for corrective reorientation.
>> Something's out there. Something's out
there. I can feel it.
Whoa. So cool.
>> Obstruction. [music]
Increasing.
>> Don't do that.
>> Releasing parachute.
>> What the [ __ ] [laughter]
>> Release firing mechanism.
>> HEY, I KNOW I HELP.
JESUS.
THAT ALL WENT WRONG.
HEY, at least I'm out of the hole. At
least I should be at zero meters now.
>> Starnav does not recognize the sky.
>> Huh?
>> Yes.
>> Bio signature on the horizon.
>> You are not on Cesura, Pioneer.
>> Wait. Yeah. No [ __ ] [ __ ] Do you see
desert anywhere?
Holy crap.
Is that a tree of life? That's insane.
Take it in, folks.
Okay, Noah, what the [ __ ] Woo! What are
you?
Are you like a flying reefy?
Missing col missing colonist.
>> I printed 26 colonists before the sleep
bay drown. Many of them more than once.
This is my purpose to reincarnate you
from digital storage, support your work,
and if necessary, reverse your death. If
I lose track of my colonists, I am
empowered to send a qualified
investigator to track them down. Do this
for me and I can offer you hazard pay.
Credit against your contract debt. Risk
code, Sierra, Ordinal, Warrant 2. I am
already searching for the black boxes of
the missing colonists. Nice.
>> Standby for search locations.
Downloading colony manifests to your
PDA.
>> Hell yeah. I love that. I love finding I
love finding things. Where'd they go?
What they do?
>> This isn't Cura. I thought you should
discover that for yourself,
investigator.
There should be a colony waiting for us.
Your fellow pioneers, my fellow Noah
nodes, working together to break ground
for those who still sleep. Instead,
silence.
Not even the cicada answers. We are
alone.
>> I've sent your PDA the standard survival
guide. While you pioneer the area and
fabricate your tools, I'll apply myself
to the life pod sensors.
>> You do that. It's nice to not be alone.
It's nice to have a friend. Fabricator.
Yeah. Okay. I need rubber fiber. Oh, I'm
going to go collect some [ __ ]
You guys don't even know.
Okay, nutrient block.
Um, I don't need that yet. What are you
customizer?
All righty. Into the deep down dark.
Deep down. Into the wild unknown. Woo.
>> Locating economy. It's your best chance
of survival.
>> A prolonged search will require food and
water.
>> I'm sorry, I stopped listening. Oh,
[screaming] what are you cute?
>> This organism filters Brian into
drinkable fresh water.
>> Critical warning. Stomach failure.
Expected cauran proteins found. Unknown
alien tissue from hand tools. You said I
COULD DRINK IT.
>> HABITATS. Titanium is an ideal
structural material.
>> You're an ideal structural material.
>> I'm sorry, Susie. I didn't mean to take
it out on you. It's
>> Look, I know oxygen. The sampling
detects a source of genetic adaptations
in this region
at the same source.
>> Investigate with caution.
>> Dude, this is so cool. You look awesome.
Also, holy hell, has this game gotten a
visual upgrade.
Look at this [ __ ]
I said it before when I was playing
Subnotica that I don't think Subnotica
gets enough credit for how gorgeous it
looks.
Periscopic crab. Clown crab. I wouldn't
call you a clown. Oh, with those eyes.
Yeah. [laughter]
Little clown.
Little dumbass.
Cute. Um, Subnautica is an incredible
looking game.
the amount of games that struggle to do
water effectively and this is a whole
game based on it but everything looks
really [ __ ] good and this looks even
better than that
like this looks phenomenal
I'm so excited oh god what are you
are you are you danger are you danger
touch wax moon
Qi Sean on.
Okay. Oh, there's a lot of pretty
colors.
Harvest Moon. Are you guys named after
video games? Where's Stardew Valley? I
want to pick them up. Okay, I'm going to
drop you cuz I have a digestive
incompatibility with you right now. A
curtain gorgon.
>> GOD, I CAN'T BREATHE for [ __ ]
>> Aetic advisor has transmitted an alert.
Notice the intrusive and persistent
heart icon. [laughter] Return to the
life pod at your convenience. Remember
that you are in command of the mission.
>> Uh, sure. Yeah, I'll remember that.
Sorry, Wax Moon.
Pokemon Sun Moon. Okay, let's go gather
some materials.
Yeah, I feel good. THIS FEELS AWESOME.
AH,
poison spark cloud.
Copper is key to simple electronics.
>> Yes.
>> Bacterial action creates COPPER ON ANY
ROOTS AND OVERHANGS.
>> SY, HELP.
>> THEY'RE ATTACKING ME.
>> CATCH JORDY. AH, [ __ ] OXYGEN. I need
to make a tank immediately. I want to go
to those guys. Plenty of time. I don't
want to explore too much too fast. We
got to go piece by piece. Meticulous.
But yeah, look at this. Look at these
water costics. They look so [ __ ]
good.
The lighting got a massive upgrade. Well
done.
Okay, what can I make?
No, that's digestive incompatibility.
Um, I need rubber and silver. Ooh, one
more titanium. I can get multi-tool.
Scanner would be good, but I need a
battery for that.
Rubber.
Okay, I can make copper wire.
It's good to be back, baby. It's like
stepping into some really nice warm
shoes.
Um, I don't know if I really want to
make distraction flare. I don't need to
distract [ __ ] I'm going to face it head
on. Okay, let me go get more titanium
before I progress anything that no one
wants me to do.
Okay. Are you quartz?
>> This quartz contains dead coral polyp.
>> Polyp.
>> It may have formed on or near a coral
dome.
>> H. That's cool. That's the same voice
actress for Suzie as the first game,
right? Oxygen.
Are you going to kill me? Is everything
going to kill me?
Oh, oxygen. Everything's going to kill
me. A look at that lighting. Whoa.
[ __ ] blinded by the lights. Call me
THE WEEKEND.
OH GOD. MAKE IT.
Hopefully I get the same grace period as
before. Oh god, where am I? Henry, where
are you?
I hope I got the same grace period of
oxygen as the first game where you
basically have like 10 extra points that
gives you time to float to the surface.
I'm also really excited about this being
out now because so many more people are
going to play this
early access in Subnautica 2 than played
the first game. When the first game came
out, and I'm not saying this to toot my
own horn, but when I played it early, it
was so popular on the channel that they
said it helped keep the studio and the
game alive. And I'm really happy that
whatever we can do here allows that. But
now more and more people are going to
play it because the first one was such a
massive success and everyone loved it.
Okay, should be able to make a multi
tool. What does that do? standard issue
pioneer tool for harvesting tougher
materials.
>> Of all the equipment available to TSF
frontiersmen, only this demilitarized
switch is approved for colonial
fabrication.
>> In untrained hands, firearms are
primarily used to harm other colonists
or the
>> Yep. Don't trust him. All right. What do
you have?
>> The bioed test.
>> I'm monitoring noxiously elevated viral
loads in seawater.
Heavy metal assays detect bone
blistering levels of cadmium, lead, and
chromium. This planet is already killing
you,
>> [ __ ]
>> We have to know if the life pod bioed
can help. Find a convenient way to die.
Your black box will phase your mind to
the bioed.
>> Jesus.
>> I'll print you in a new body. You can
return to your point of exit to retrieve
dropped [music] items. Regular
reprinting may help slow down
environmental contamination.
It's not a long-term solution, but for
now, we have to triage.
>> So, you're telling me that I have to
die? No way. I'm not going to die on
purpose.
>> I understand.
Is that it? Okay. Uh, death here I come.
Uh, all right. Let me put
I mean, I don't need to go collect my
items again. I just put it all in here.
All right. Time to die. Now, do we go
out the epic way,
which is getting killed by a giant
creature? Whoa, look at these guys. What
are they?
Or do we just drown to death?
I say drown to death. Elegant. Like
going to sleep for your lungs.
Wow. Oh, cute.
Are you like two fish stuck together?
What are you? Come here.
I want to scan him, but I can't.
Lucifer rotsac. [laughter]
That's what I call my balls after I've
sat all day. My Lucifer Rottzack.
WHOA, THIS IS A GOOD LOOKING GAME.
What's that over there? I'm about to
die. Let's go.
Finally, the sweet embrace of death. I
should have put my multi-tool in there.
[ __ ]
Am I going to lose that?
>> Complete. You have experienced
conditions incompatible with life. Your
brain state has been restored to a new
body. Some colonists prefer to return to
the accident site to retrieve lost items
and verify their last print exited
cleanly. Consult your data bank for
emotional and philosophical support.
Death is certain for the born and
rebirth inevitable for the dead. You
should not therefore grieve the
inevitable.
You say that, but death is terrifying.
Wow. It's going to become nighttime.
Holy [ __ ]
So, you're like my aurora.
I'm going to have to memorize like the
shape and sides of you to find my way
back. I want to go over to these guys.
What y'all doing?
Also, why did I die and I retained the
amount of [ __ ] thirst and hunger I
had?
That was [ __ ]
I knew this game would look better.
Sorry, I keep harping on about it, but I
mean, come on.
I didn't think it would look this much
better.
There's something about the softness of
the lighting that's really impressive.
Hey, Reys,
you're going to be my rees of this game.
Okay. They're
really far away though.
>> I'll get to you later.
>> Sampling detects a source of genetic
adaptations in this region. Tracking a
bloom of viral activity at the same
source. Investigate with caution.
>> [ __ ] you talking about? What do you
mean? Coat with survival multi-tool.
Okay.
>> Used to make basic batteries. The noetic
advisor has transmitted an alert
at your [singing] convenience.
>> There's trucks. Everybody wants to kill
me. Susie,
>> TELL ME HOW I DON'T DIE.
>> OXYGEN.
>> OOH, like that.
Me, man. Me got power.
Me stab you in head. Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
Uh-oh. I'M BLACKING OUT. UH-OH. I'M
ALIVE. [screaming]
CAN'T KILL WHAT you can't see.
Does it not do it if I do this now? Ah,
cool. I'm learning.
I'll figure it out. I need to kill one
of these bastards. I need to eat. Ah,
that doesn't work. He's got some sort of
crazy defense system.
What about you, tiny slug?
Okay, I'm just going to pick you up.
How do I make my guts good? Like if I
maybe if I try again.
>> Just adaptation required.
>> Brace for digestive distress.
>> Oh no. Whoa. It's like being on
Tatooine.
Holy [ __ ]
dude. Whoever was on the engine for the
lighting and like textures and
everything in this game,
he's did a [ __ ] crazy job. Mild acid.
Sure, why not? Battery
glass.
Should I make glass?
I don't know if I need glass.
If I turn it into water here, does it?
Basic human need. Drink to avert death.
Do not drink sea water. But there's so
much of it. It's everywhere, all around
me. Scanner.
>> Stranded on 4546B,
Riley Robinson used a field scanner to
outwit teleporting alien cyborgs and
treat his kur infection. Yeah,
>> behavioral economists still debate why
Riley abandoned a lucrative motivational
speaking career to return to frontier
life.
>> Uh Riley's who we played in the first
game. Wow. Whoa.
What's happening?
Is that the Aurora Boring Alice? I
thought all these flickers were
lightning in the distance, but seems to
just be an artifact of the water.
Cool. Pretty
All right, let's get scanning.
I'm going to pick you up.
I'm going to get lots of things. Let's
get a flashlight. Yeah,
I would like that.
Do I die if I'm still in this menu? Yep.
Oh, I can make one of these.
Okay. Whoa. What was that? What?
What's trying to kill me now? Oh, what's
that over there?
>> Oxygen. Oxygen. Yeah, I'm aware of it.
Is this where I came up?
Oh, that's definite death, isn't it?
Whoa.
It's blasting me up. Oh, it made my skin
crawl. I don't know what it is. And it
wants to kill me, probably. Come along,
friend. It's for the greater good.
You must die so the many must die so the
one survives.
Can I go to bed? Wake up in the morning.
[ __ ] sucks at night time.
Uh,
yes.
Yes.
I can drink this, right?
Yeah, digestive discomfort in not
incoming.
Digestive lots of comfort happening.
I need something to eat.
I keep hearing like a growly gurgly.
Who's growly gurgling at me?
Come here. Come here. I just want to
talk to you. [ __ ] God, THEY'RE SO FAST.
HOW ARE THEY DOING THAT?
What's over here? You're
No, you're not. Oh, you're sticking up
out of the water. I thought you were
something, but you're nothing. Come
here. Come here.
Yeah, a Jack sponge. That's me.
[ __ ] you, Jack sponge. I'll kill you. Or
I'll scan you, actually.
Uh, unpacking archite
man joke to the creator of most love the
stars of the what? I don't have time for
that. I'm drowning here.
I'll try and read some of them later,
but usually it's just flavor and it's
not adding to my survivability right
now.
Okay. I'm I'm still very scared of going
anywhere outside my current local means.
Oh. Oh. Half moon. Dumbass. Dumbass. Get
caught. Get caught. Idiots. Stupid
stinky babies. Half moon jerky unlocked.
Uh. Yes. Ooh.
I need salt.
Okay, you I can eat. Digestive
incompatibility. Why? It's cooked.
>> Unable to digest.
>> Adaptation required. Brace for digestive
distress.
>> Son of a dingus. Okay. What have you
What have you got to say?
>> Anita, I need to get out of here.
>> Contact. I've located the black box of
Anita Gotshaw, the colony purser.
Partial voice data retrieved.
>> We so hungry.
>> Anita always liked to watch you shuffle
cards. She said you had a knack for
holding things. Find out what happened
to her. Signal location uploaded to your
PDA.
>> Okay. Um, some of the text and the
voices and stuff aren't matching up
right now, but that's fine. I had a
knack for holding things. Okay, these
good old opposable thumbs that I've been
gifted with through bountiful evolution.
Um, okay. I shall take a nutrient block
and a medkit. How much does that heal?
50. I'm fine.
Yeah.
Okay. I got medical gel sacks.
Who wants to look at my medical gel
sack?
Just bring more batteries, some copper
wire, some bile acids.
I don't know why.
All right, away we go. Woo. HEAD TO THE
BLACK BOX TO FIND ANITA. Is that where?
No, I saw another thing over there. Oh,
I'm all turned around now. Oh gosh, you
scared me. I got Reaper Leviathan
flashbacks.
Oh, it's becoming daylight again.
Beautiful.
Wow. This is one of the best looking
games I've played this year.
I've played some stunners. Reququum.
Pragmata. I know a lot of people have
been asking me to play Pragmata on the
channel. And by a lot, I've seen like
four people. That's a lot. Okay. Whoa.
What's that?
Uh, but I already played it in my own
time. It was delightful and I had a
wonderful time and it made me cry.
Okay. What are you? Are you friend or
death? Are you death friend? Are you
following me?
I'll have you know I have a multi-tool.
Oh, you can't look like an axelottle.
Whoa. WHOA. OKAY. NO. SPECIAL DONOR
FOUND.
>> HE'S A HAMMERHEAD.
>> DETECTS molecules matching the organism
from the sleep bay.
>> Help.
I don't want to be here anymore. I
didn't want to be here to begin with.
>> I can hear you. Sophie says you're a
hallucination, just a virus. But I know
you're listening. We're so hungry.
There is food all around us, but it's
poison.
Will you help? If I feed you, will you
feed us? This is my body given for you.
Just help us eat.
>> Wait, what?
I feed you? Who? Huh?
The [ __ ] is happening?
Can I touch this again? Oh god. Yeah.
Insert your hands into [ __ ] that you
don't understand. ing alien enzymes to
your stomach lining. You may now digest
freely.
>> Yes, I'mma eat this planet dry.
>> What are you? I want to scan you again,
but you scary and flew away.
Nibbler. Mango.
Are they scary?
Mango truck, a pesky omnivore. Okay, he
can eat me. Ah, HE CAN EAT ME. THEY CAN
EAT ME. THEY'RE DEVOURING ME. THEY'RE
EATING MY ASS. HOLY [ __ ] I need some
flippers.
I need some flipping flippers in this.
>> Oh god, I'm way down. I was like 30 m
down. That's no bueno.
I'm alive.
Down we go. There's some [ __ ] to scan
down here. I need my habitat builder. I
want to build a home for you and me, but
mainly me.
What's this? A wall rack. That's Don't
care about that.
Awake maker. Oh, I saw those in the
trailer. Those are like my new uh not
Sea Moth. What was the other thing I
had? Seaglide.
Sing.
Shut up. Go away. Whoa.
Is there currents in the game now?
>> Contact. Abandoned colony structure
partially disassembled.
>> Oh, [groaning] camp one.
Okay, hold on. I have to not die for a
second. Damn, this is so cool. Also
[ __ ] terrifying.
Just like the first game. It's
everything I ever wanted.
I would check my PDA a lot more if it
stopped the game. Yes.
>> Building a process and a power supply
will unlock new fabricator recipes.
>> Oxygen,
>> but the added mass would sink your life
port. A standalone habitat is the next
step on your mission.
>> Hell yeah.
Lord, you're covered in barnacles. Okay,
let me get more oxygen.
Don't mind if I thank you.
>> Being hunted
BY WHAT? WHOA. WHOA. HOLY [ __ ]
[screaming]
WHAT ARE YOU? GO AWAY.
Jesus Christ. I'm stuck. I'm stuck.
Leave me alone. Leave me alone. I'll
kill you. I'LL [ __ ] KILL YOU. OKAY,
maybe not. Jesus. Can I get in? Let me
in.
Let me in. They may lead to
disorientation, asphyxiation, and print
loss. Be sure you are
Oh god, everything's trying to [ __ ]
kill me. [laughter]
[screaming]
It sucks to be back.
[ __ ] man. Okay,
how about I come back when I HAVE ENOUGH
STUFF. OH, BUT I WANT THAT.
I GOT TO GO GET IT.
Compartment flooded.
>> Compartment flooded. Yeah. No [ __ ]
[ __ ]
Pick a pent.
Fent.
Okay. I can't do anything. I'm so
scared. I'm scared of my oxygen running
out. I'm scared of MY ASS FALLING OFF.
I'm scared of someone biting me in half.
>> Oxygen.
>> Oh Jesus. Susie, how do you do it?
I want to be more like the robots. I got
to get my my wave maker.
That's my seag glide for this game. It's
two things you put on your hands and you
push forward and you go, which you do
have in real life.
This the place I was at, right? Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh my god, you guys are the worst. Oh my
god. Actually, you're probably not the
worst. There's going to be way worse
things that are going to try and bite my
toes off. Leave me alone.
>> [screaming]
>> Okay, nothing's actually hurting that
much. I still have pretty good health. I
don't know where I got health back.
Maybe from sticking my hand in the
plant. I also didn't go near you.
Are you hiding anything?
You got anything good?
You just Oh, yeah. You got some goodies
for sure. What y'all hiding?
>> The rules are simple. Keep the perimeter
sensors on alarm, no matter how many
false positives you get. And do not go
out alone. They are hunting us. We don't
know why. Someone made a mistake a long
time ago and we have to live with it.
The damn thing is maybe it was one of
us. Maybe they see us and say, "Look,
it's that soft criminal back from the
dead again. Let's get the freak." And we
don't even remember what we did.
>> Okay.
Sure.
I think I know what they want from you.
Uh, food.
Chomp chomp. Nice. Nice.
Tasty little morsel. Let's eat, Trevor.
>> The portable locker can be hand carried
or attached to a hard point.
>> Avoid workplace friction. Inform your
co-workers before moving their stash.
>> [ __ ] my co-workers.
>> Oxygen.
>> I don't have co-workers anymore. I have
no workers. It's all me, baby. Everybody
relies on me. I'm the best.
I deserve this. Okay, I'm going to drop
you right here.
Okay. Hi, Noah.
[ __ ] sucks. I almost died twice. Okay,
make a flashlight. Habitat builder. What
do I need? Glass. I can make some glass.
Didn't I make glass?
Nope. I think I thought about making
glass and then didn't.
Habitat builder.
Congratulations. You have taken a major
step towards zero debt today. As a
platform for systems like the processor
and scanner station, a habitat is a
vital investment in your future. A
habitat can also be an emotional anchor,
proof that you've built something to
last.
>> Yeah. Remember, it's easier to replace a
body than a base. [laughter]
>> Oh, hell yeah.
I'm going to build some [ __ ]
Okay.
[ __ ] yeah.
I also think I saw them
that they brought back
terraforming. If you don't know, in the
very early stages of Subnotica 1, there
was terraforming in the game. Basically,
Minecraft.
You could destroy huge chunks of the
planet. You could rebuild it. You could
build your own base out of rock.
But a lot of people don't realize that
that was in the game cuz it was taken
out because it was just so broken. It
did not work whatsoever, which I'm glad
they took it out for that cuz it just it
just wasn't ready.
Nice. Wait, is that done?
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Oh, I don't need a door anymore.
Oxygen production offline. Yeah, I need
a power source.
Whoa, that's weird. I kind of missed my
door.
Give a man a door.
Okay, what am I doing? Should I just
build it this way? NO. [screaming]
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?
>> NO.
I need to get a new tank. This is just
not going to work for me.
Nice.
Okay, that'll do for now before I can
put some more [ __ ] in it.
Let me see. I'm right underneath this,
so that's good. What did I need for a
tank?
I need silver and rubber. I'm not even
close to being able to find those yet.
Silver, rubber, and fiber.
Okay, so normally fiber is in the
plants.
Oh,
where's this cable go?
Ooh,
someone's hiding something. Like, can I
get fiber from this?
No.
[snorts]
Cool, dude.
Now, is this the one that I was in or
not?
This is the one I was in. Just to make
sure. Yes.
Okay, good. That settles that then.
Moving on. Oh, I want to get to one of
them. They're so cool. They look like
something from Avatar.
You guys fighting? Oh, hell yeah. Wa!
They made a sonic boom.
Cool.
I guess it's not already a sonic boom if
you're underwater, is it?
Where'd he go? Come back.
Oh, you got like tentacles in the water.
Does that hurt?
No, you would never hurt me. You're
reefies.
Actually, what are they?
Hi.
Nah, you're reefies.
You can't be anything but a reefy. Hey,
Reefy.
That's a cool design. I like that one.
Okay, let's head to camp one. Oh [ __ ] I
get all turned around. Is this a place
that I've been?
I don't think so.
No.
What's down here? Field notes under not
wander. Two spare tanks. My reprint site
is habitat.
I'm exhausted today. What if you just
reprinted yourself when you were tired?
>> Maybe you'd never have to sleep. Miss
Nima, I'm checking out the big coral
tower. There's a mass trapped inside.
The scanner's not sure if it's coral
polip or crab tissue. The optogenetics
are so weird. We know the prota virus
infects everything on this planet. And
we know the coral crabs wear these domes
as hats.
Is it possible the virus swapped their
genes around? So part of the coral just
decided it was a crab. Like if you live
next to something on Proteius, you
become related to it.
>> Uh
is this the new one or is the one I've
been? I am so lost.
I'm going to stick my hand in it anyway.
Make me adapt.
No. Uh, this is the one I was at. Okay.
This life form is a biological antenna.
It archives useful genetic material in
its core as it matures, making it a
perfect gene donor.
>> I knew a gene donor once. She was nice.
That feels like a Conan O'Brien joke or
something.
Like someone named Jean Donor. Wait,
maker fragment.
No.
What? God, you guys aren't even that
big. But [ __ ] you're scary.
I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
[screaming] [ __ ] you. [ __ ] YOU.
LAUNCH ME UNDER THE [ __ ] water.
What is this?
[ __ ] you. [ __ ] you. [ __ ] you. How What
do I do? Where do I go? What are you?
I don't know what they do. I keep
clicking them, but nothing happens.
Maybe they're not in the game yet. Whoa.
Yeah, this is cool and all, but I need
oxygen.
Okay. Okay. Okay. Oxygen. Okay.
>> Advisor has transmitted an alert. Return
to the life port at your convenience.
>> LEAVE ME ALONE. I'M ABOUT TO DIE FROM
ASPHIXIATION.
[screaming]
NO, I'm not. I'm going to live forever.
Okay. Scan this.
Good. Good. Everything good.
Okay, I don't need that. I get titanium
for it. [ __ ] Leave me alone.
Oh, cool. A shelf in the shape of an S.
S for Shawn. S for scared. S for [ __ ]
myself.
They're [ __ ] everywhere.
>> Okay, I'm about to [ __ ] drown again.
My favorite pastime in this game,
apparently.
Okay, I need to be aware of where I've
been and where I'm going so I can scan
everything. I just need a better oxygen
tank.
That's all I need.
Okay, was that most of it? I'll come
back when I get more stuff
cuz there is something in that.
ASS. GOD, MY ASS WHEN MY BACK IS TURNED.
YOU [ __ ] SUCK.
It's not so bad. He's not I'm not doing
He's not doing that much damage to me,
but God, I hate him. So,
>> echo analysis detects human remains
inter beneath the sediment. His sight is
a mass grave.
>> What?
A mass grave? Oh
[ __ ]
I hate that guy. I hate that guy. I'm
leaving. I'm leaving.
>> Oh, I know. Oxygen. Suck on my fat one.
[laughter]
Gross overexaggeration and overreaction,
but come on. I want to see if these are
these just like
That's fun.
Yeah, they help you navigate the the
distance.
God, it's a hammerhead.
Oh god,
I still don't know where to get fiber.
>> Oxygen.
>> I know where to get that.
Dude, we're lucky that we can even
breathe on this planet.
Have I tried attacking you?
Okay, go [ __ ] yourself.
Electric plants that want to kill you.
That's cool. In a place full of water
that also has salt in it. Isn't that
make it more conductive? Oh, wait. Noah
wants to talk to me. Maybe he'll be
like, "Here, have a flipper."
No. Where do I get rubber and fiber?
>> Another black box. Chap Savon, head of
computational dynamics. His job is to
make sure I'm doing my job.
>> I'm what he would call weekly
supervisible.
It means I respond well to human
guidance.
I can take partial instructions and
generate a coherent concept of
operations.
Chap gave you his PDA pass key so you
could play games on his account. I let
it slide. His action was against the
rules but in support of the concept.
Signal location uploaded to PDA.
>> Okay. Where's he? Over there. Chap.
Chappie.
Um. Okay. I can't eat one of these.
Yeah, I I picked this up because I
thought that this would make fiber.
Oily salad.
It doesn't make fiber.
How much did I need?
What am I making? Oh, I need silver for
that. I need fiber for these. Two fiber.
Cool. I can eat this stuff now.
Wow. I'll eat it anyway cuz it's just
going to take up room and then it's
Wait, can I make anything with the pint?
The pent and all
fiber mesh grease.
No,
I'll make a flare. Why not?
Oh, cool tricks, bud. I bet you have
lots of friends.
Oh, and then I can use that to get away
from that guy. All right.
Distraction flare indeed. I said I
didn't need a distraction flare and then
I [ __ ] myself and cried like a baby when
in fact I really, really, really did
need it.
What's in here?
>> Colony structure located.
>> Uhhuh. Let me get some oxygen first.
clues to the location of the main
habitat.
>> The main habitat.
Where the [ __ ] door
table? Yeah, let's go.
The hell is this thing?
Bolab. Oo,
bolab unlocked. Nice. Yeah. Didn't I get
a bio bed or something?
No, it didn't say anything about it.
Display tank. Yeah, you got to have one
of those.
>> By a survival multi-tool. Sabotage is a
serious crime. Samantha's bombing of
Altera Labs delayed critical research by
decades.
>> Battery power requires battery. Ooh.
Ooh. Okay.
Let's go make a battery.
Why does the need for that? I need some
of these gel sack guys.
Some of this.
Yeah. If I make a battery, then I can
turn it on. Then Noah CAN BE LIKE, "HEY,
my brother."
Wow. Cool.
Wa! Oh, look at the auroras on that.
This is like the average Skyrim mod. You
look up to the sky and it seems like I
don't like those mods. I like it when
the cuz the world of Skyrim is so
subdued.
It just looks like mountainous European
tundra or something like that. And then
you look up in the sky and it's like,
why does it look like a sci-fi game?
People just People just do whatever they
want with mods, don't they?
Battery.
I'll be back soon, baby. Don't you
worry. I'll be back soon. And then I'll
fill you full of power and oxygen, and
then we're going to have a good time.
>> Seek fresh water intake.
>> Oh,
I didn't realize I was dying of thirst.
That's fine. We can wait. There's a guy
right here.
>> All systems online. Power connected.
>> Oxygen.
>> God [ __ ] damn it.
>> Whoa, look at the clouds.
Do you think the clouds are hiding
something? Remember in Subnotica 1 there
was like clouds and stuff in the
distance hiding land mass. What if it's
like that again? That would be so cool.
So, let me do the same thing as
Subnotica one again. Let me relive that.
It was amazing.
>> I'm in
having a look around. This structure was
connected to sleep bay 3 [music] until
the bay suddenly moved,
picked up and hurled a full fathom into
the deep with you and I aboard.
>> Huh?
>> 20,000 hours earlier, a hard line
leading to a habitat complex in the
north was deliberately cut. Why? And if
I am not mistaken, and I never am, this
node was killed by an explosion below
the structure.
>> Whoa. More mysteries for the qualified
investigator.
I've retrieved two messages. I think you
should review them. I remember Sophie
very fondly.
>> I um I picked up my phone cuz 20,000
hours in days.
>> My brother in Christ, I don't want to
keep on doing math for you. You keep
asking me over and over to do this [ __ ]
that you can type into a calculator, and
I'm done doing that. Also, you know, I
don't even function that well anyway.
So, even if I did do the math, it's
probably going to be wrong because of my
chat GPT brain. Get back to doing this
[ __ ] on a piece of paper, dog. I'm done.
I'm not doing this anymore. 833.33
days. Damn, that's a lot.
>> Hello, I am Ziggy Mantis Starulas,
formerly EVA engineer on Mongolian
steps.
Now, lead diver of this mess. Here is my
formula for a quick base. Fill up on
titanium, quartz, and copper. Get your
builder tool. Wave it around a bit.
Check the battery. Get comfortable.
Build a corridor. Put a solar panel on
top. You must have power to make air.
>> Gotcha.
>> Put a hatch on the end. Go inside. Build
lockers. [clears throat] At fabricator,
it will draw from your lockers
automatically.
>> Go.
>> Now you have made a perfect work camp.
Later, you can add a room for bio bed,
processor, scanner station, a real bed,
maybe grow some plants. The rest will
follow.
>> Pulling from your lockers is such an
incredible quality of life change.
>> You'll want to visit the biolab near the
entrance and install a passive and
active biomod. While less permanent than
adaptations, [music]
I've been told they're more fun. Sophie
would have cleared anything in there.
>> What if you're the last human being in
the whole universe?
Wouldn't that set you free?
>> Just give me existential dread. Is my
water still going down? My oxygen isn't.
>> This world is yours to explore,
but it is not for man.
You'll join us soon enough.
>> Welcome back, pioneer. I'm Sophie
Busher, Kultai surgeon. By now, you know
we're not on Zora. We call this planet
Proteius. We don't know when you will
find us. For the sake of all our
sleeping friends, we have to learn how
to survive.
>> There's so much happening.
Oh [ __ ] I'm dying.
Okay, I got to drink.
I got to get back. I got to drink. I
want to [ __ ] die. Oh god. This is not
good, folks.
You don't want to get dehydrated and
die. It's the number one cause of death
from dehydration.
Just make a bunch.
Damn. It's It's a little annoying that
it paused my oxygen but nothing else.
I think that it was the same in the
first game that there was so much
information to take in all the time and
I was under time pressure constantly to
not die that it made it hard to take in
all said information
cuz the PDA doesn't
stop either.
Good God, I'm thirsty.
Okay, now we can use a medkit.
Okay, back we go.
Do I have stuff for solar panels?
Oh
[ __ ] Okay, titanium and quartz. I can
get that easy.
I mean, I probably have it in the base,
but whatever.
You can find that stuff pretty
pretty handily around here.
Oh, it's a little guy. Hey, I thought it
was quartz.
Does picking up bits of wreckage count
as lots of titanium again? Yeah.
And some water.
>> Oxygen.
>> It's oxygen I need though.
Water's great, but oxygen even better.
Okay. Where is there some quartz?
Wow, look at that.
Cool.
Quartz is normally everywhere. Oh god.
Looking down into the deep every time.
Even now, even after playing Subnotica
so many times, it's still terrifying to
look down into the water where you can't
really see anything.
This thing's running out of battery as
well.
Dive elevator. Like a diving bell.
a beacon.
Did I I still need one more piece for
the the wake maker or whatever it was
called,
right?
>> Oxygen.
I keep hearing monster sounds all around
me, but there's no monsters around me.
Stop scaring me.
You suck.
Habitat builder. Let's just go back in
here for a second.
Active biomod. Dash. Pathfinder. Release
a trail of pherommones you can follow to
find your way.
Sea skimmer. Swim faster when close to
underwater surfaces or seafloor. So is
oxygen consumption when not moving.
Yeah.
Okay. I can have one active and one
passive. Dash in any direction to avoid
predators or hazards. Wow.
[ __ ] yeah.
That's really cool. That's a fun thing
they added.
So beautiful in here now. Wow. Look at
this [ __ ] man.
What a gorgeous game.
>> Um,
>> this world is yours to explore,
but it is not for man.
>> What if you're the last human being in
the whole universe?
>> Welcome back, pioneer. I'm Sufi Busher,
Kai Surgeon. By now, you know we're not
on Zora.
>> Okay, so the plan's gotus.
We don't know when rescue will find us.
For the sake of all our sleeping
friends, we have to learn how to
survive. Nahima.
>> Hey, fellow dead slave. I'm Nahima
Nakota, ecologist. Take a sip of sea
water. Notice that sweet blood taste
under the salt. That's a toxic dose of
heavy metals. Nobody survived past 3
months.
It's a beautiful place to die over and
over again.
>> But don't let that beauty seduce you,
Pioneer. Exposure to Proteus causes a
delusion we call mazefield syndrome. The
call of the sea. People may tell you
it's a gift. Ignore them. You remember
what Ka did to our homes. You know we
can't trust alien biology. We've set up
a lab here with a few basic biomods.
They're safe. But if you start to hear
voices or if you get the urge to swim to
the tree,
>> don't go
>> habitat do north. We'll come pick you
up.
>> See you soon, pioneer.
>> Don't go towards the tree.
Oh,
I'm glad I came back for that.
Okay, I don't need any more of that. I
just need quartz.
There's some somewhere here. Quartz was
like the most abundant thing in the
first game, actually. Is that true? I
think titanium is still up there.
Titanium is pretty much the de facto
thing to get in these games.
Nice
>> oxygen. Oxygen.
Now I can make a solar panel.
Whoa. Why is the sky covered in film
grain? [laughter]
That's weird looking.
Damn. I'm liking this a lot so far.
I It's pretty much just the first game
with slightly different story and
locations and that kind of stuff, but I
think that's fine. I think that that's
what a sequel to this game is all I
wanted.
Um, you Quaker.
>> I've located Lucricia Kapoor, the
mission's AI ethosis.
You may find her final words at this
part.
>> I certainly do.
>> Noah, do not open the seox.
>> Noah, acknowledge, please do.
>> She often asked you to resume your
stories when you were interrupted. She
made eye contact when she spoke. A
considerate woman and not easily
frightened.
Signal location uploaded to PDA. Was she
in love?
>> Okay, we have two PDAs we can go get
right now. Habitat beacon generates a
signal to help you locate your habitat.
Oo, fun.
>> Power connected. All systems online.
Welcome aboard.
>> Yeah, baby.
We're on our way already.
Um,
can I make Okay, I can make bolab and
stuff, but
I want to be able to make bigger rooms.
I guess that's not a thing I can do yet.
Noah terminal bio bedge creates a backup
point for pioneers. Oh, okay. That's
what that does. I'll build out a
blocker.
>> Welcome aboard.
I'll build two lockers. Oh, I can't.
Out of all the [ __ ] titanium I had,
and now I can't even build a simple
little locker. What a foolish man I am.
Anything hiding over here?
Ah. All right. This is where I came down
before.
It's good to grab this stuff. Plus, the
things that are hurting me
[clears throat] in the game so far don't
they don't really hurt me.
>> Okay, what else can I make? Or what else
should I make? I need some copper for
that. I should have copper
habitat beacon. I don't really need a
bolab unless I get more slots. That's
cool though. Oh, I can basically add
perks to my character. I love that.
Let's make a little Leviathan.
A big Leviathan. Holy god.
Do I have to build you on this?
In this must be placed inside a base.
Okay, I I do.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> I don't have room for you. You're way
bigger than I thought you were going to
be. I thought it was going to be like a
thing that goes on a table.
Um,
okay. That's I mean this is all fine.
Is this I have eight and it requires
two.
I'm going to assume that that's what
that means. Uh keep some of you guys in
here. Keep my fiber in here. Quartz.
Titanium.
Oh, you I need to break down actually.
I mean, maybe I shouldn't have made my
base so close to this one, but what are
you going to do? It dims what its
ams. Are you guys rotten yet?
Otherwise, launch munch.
Okay. Can I break down salvage into
titanium? Yes.
I just flying all over the floor cuz I
don't have room. [laughter]
Okay. Okay. Okay. We've had our fun.
Oh, Jesus. I keep forgetting that I can
do that.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Welcome aboard, Captain.
Lots of titanium now.
It feels like a much more competent game
this time.
Subnotica 1 was amazing, but in its
early access phase, it did feel quite
janky. This one feels pretty high
quality already.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Thank you.
Okay, nice. Yeah, now it requires four
and I have eight.
Excellent. Um, let me dump some things
in here.
All righty.
AND AWAY I GO.
I want to get over to this other camp to
the black box for Chappie.
Look at those little clown crabs.
They're so cute.
Who'd ever want to hurt them?
Me.
Okay, this is a little scary.
The area that you're in. Oh, what this?
Habitat builder.
>> Oxygen.
>> Oxygen.
>> I probably missed some bits to Oh god,
I'm way down.
I think I probably missed some bits to
get like fiber and rubber and [ __ ]
already, but
Oh, let's go here first. The stuff
that's not
>> something large is moving nearby.
>> What?
WHAT? YOU CAN'T SAY THAT.
The last time THAT HAPPENED, I GOT EATEN
BY a reaper.
I DON'T WANT THAT [ __ ] HAPPENING AGAIN.
Is there something large moving nearby?
Like an earthquake.
A [screaming]
cool.
Why do I have a degree thing on my
screen?
Damn. What are you?
Rock crab. Wait maker fragment. Wait.
Yeah. Last piece.
That's what I need.
battery. Hell yeah,
dude. It's so cool that things fight
each other now.
Yeah. [ __ ] them up.
Defend your honor. Fight your ground.
What is this 30°
thingy?
>> What does that mean? I also forgot that
I can just boost to the surface now.
I want to scan this guy. Hello.
You're like a sea treader.
Well, not really, but you know what I
mean. What are you called? Coral crab.
Bro, I'm friend. I won't do anything.
That other guy [ __ ] sucks though. I'm
sorry about him.
Where's this go? Sea salt.
[music]
Oh, I don't want to be here. Oh, yes I
do. Oh, yes, me do.
>> Oxygen.
Whoa.
I know you're beeping at me, but I don't
care yet.
>> Okay. You comfy?
>> No.
>> My mouth is full of holes.
>> I'm turning on the nitrogen.
Deep breath.
>> Oh [ __ ]
>> You'll have a brand new body. You might
even be a little stronger, a little
faster. The bio beds got you.
>> Until it all happens again. The meadow
or the mace field. This planet is
poison.
>> If this works, we can slow down the
syndromes by reprinting our bodies until
we find a cure. What if there is no
cure?
>> Chap.
Sweetie, don't be scared. Noah will find
a way.
>> That's what I'm afraid of.
[music]
Okay, they were struggling.
Is there no power in here? It feels like
there's power in here, but I can't do
anything.
>> Endurance upgraded. Inventory expanded.
>> Hell yeah.
Somebody Oh, I love that. I love finding
things and getting upgrades. It's the
It's the I think upgrades like this are
one of the single greatest things that
video games do. I think that's why video
games exist to me. Whenever you got a
good upgrade system in a game, I am
putty in your hands.
Oh, the music's lovely.
Oops. I didn't want to do that actually.
It's a shame I can't Ooh, silver.
How do I get this?
Uh, consult your noic adviser to
research optimal search areas. Okay.
Damn. Do you have any like bits of
silver lying around?
Huge amount of copper
[ __ ] I want like little silver.
I don't need big silver. I just want
little one
>> oxygen.
Oh, those guys are still fighting out
there.
Scary. Can I go to bed?
Just wake up tomorrow. Look how shiny
everything is.
This place is beautiful.
Okay,
cuz I really wish I could use that
fabricator in there.
Oh god, where am I? Oh god, what have I
done? Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. [snorts]
It's little areas like that that I'm so
worried I'm going to get stuck in and I
won't be able to get out.
God, it seems like it's always [ __ ]
night time in this game.
>> What are you? Oh,
>> that oxygen plant. What are you
>> level beyond tolerable threshold?
>> Oh, adaptation.
>> I thought it was degrees of direction. I
didn't realize it was actually degrees
as in temperature.
Oh, you guys are cool.
Oh, wait. Are you electric?
Yeah, you are. I need to scan you. I
need the scan.
Surge jelly.
Ow.
And away I go.
>> Oxygen.
>> Whoa, that planet looks angry.
Okay. I don't know if I got everything
that was over there. Are you silver?
I think you're silver. You're not
quartz, right? Oh, please be silver.
[ __ ] quartz.
I wanted silver. I need silver. I needed
to get upgrades.
I'm lost without my silver.
Got to have my silver.
Ow. oxygen.
>> Leave me alone, [ __ ]
This boost mod is terrific.
Like, let's see.
I'm at 180. Oh, it car is like 12 m.
That's epic.
I don't know if you guys know that, but
that's epic. Anything
that lets me go further, faster,

>> Why? Oh, night time. Never mind. I won't
do it in my basement. We don't have any

stuff for a bioreactor.
What can I make? Wake maker. I need a
wiring kit. I need silver and grease.
Okay. Well, all of that is not stuff
that I have or can get right now. So,
that sucks.
Can I talk to you?
How do I How do I silver?
How did I do it in the previous game?
Um, is there anything I need? Tools.
Flashlight.
>> Alien organisms may have their own

that looks cool.
Uh, okay. Okay, let's bring a nutrient
block with us
cuz I might need that soon.
Um,
WA GOD, THE LIGHTING IS way better in
this game than it was in the last one.
Huge upgrade.

one gives a [ __ ] Look how speedy I am.

THERE'S MORE THAN OXYGEN TO WORRY ABOUT.
I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate
it. I hate it. I hate it. It sucks.
It's so scary. It's terrifying. I want
out. I need mono.
We good?
Just for a little bit.

>> It is silent.
Welcome home.
>> Oh, nice. There's oxygen in here.
>> If one of my species finds this message,
you may be the very last human being in
the universe.
>> Uh, excuse me.
>> You get to write the last chapter of our

I ask you to do the most human thing you

Forget Alterara. Forget Zora and the
life you imagined.
>> It's all gone now.
You're going to die here. And that's all
right. Pick the most interesting thing
you can see and explore.
>> That's literally all I've been doing for
this video so far. Also, do the most
human thing you can think of. It's like
what? Jerk off, eat bad food, and fall

Maybe it's tainting Anita's Angelcom

grown by the bloom strain. We should
test on the angel combs out west with
those promising heat shock proteins. And
if I'm wrong, [snorts] hey, I'm just a

>> Bro, what the [ __ ] are you talking
about? You just said a whole bunch of
words.
Boom. Canker.
Sounds like a slur.
Scan processor.
The hell does that do? Look, I know a
lot of you are probably like, "Dude, you
should look at it in your PDA." But I
will literally die if I open up my PDA.
>> Oh [ __ ]
>> Although I do lose less oxygen. Is that
a tank?
This is a tank. IT'S GIVING ME OXYGEN.
[screaming]
[laughter]
There's so much information to pick up.
Okay, so I have pressure tolerance and
digestion now.
Oh, I don't know where the things I just
got went. A wall rack, tiny chair,
sonic resonator. I I assume this is like
a pulse to hit things. Power cell
terminal. Yeah, that would be nice.
I have so many things already. Damn.
Copper ingots. Ooh.
Um, grease from half moons. That's how I
get grease.
Interesting.
Yes. Battery terminal.
So, I can just have like two batteries
and then
send them back and forth.

Huge.
Huge for me.
What am I hearing?
Oh, wa.
Scanner station.
Hold on. I want to explore this room
first. Wait, maker fragment. Oh, wait. I
already have that. I don't have the
materials to
make it yet.
I'm scanning everything.
I don't know what they do. Hold on. Let
me

>> Habitat is gone. The biobats blew up and

Swim down the tunnel past Sophie's

Okay, lab chair. We have a cicada thing.
I actually don't know what the cicada
is.
Okay, I pressed tab to view and it
didn't go to it. So,
[ __ ] me, I guess.
Yeah, it's the tab to go to stuff isn't
really working. That's fine. Oh, I'm
out. I have a battery.
Yes. Okay, cool.
There's so many things to scan. It's so
satisfying. All right, no. What do we
got? Take room recipe data card. [music]
Ladder unlocked. Okay, so I just got a
recipe in the last one.
>> Record very quick. Damn it. There is a

>> Tadpole pens. Okay. What's up, Noah?
I mean
>> about 25 people lived here. They were

>> No resentment. A nice clean you.
>> Change. Why would it want to change? The

>> Triage policy update.
>> Nobody wants this. I hate it more than I
can say, but it's time. As colony

no longer take care of the sick. We
don't have the calories to spare. I will
not force anyone to reprint. But I ask
that once you are too sick to work, you
volunteer for recycling into a new body.
It won't cure the permanent damage, but
it will clean out the metals and virus
for a while. At least this is fair.
Until we know how to adapt the metals
without going maze field, we are all
going to get sick. I will lead the way
myself. Let the record show that the
Noah did not advise me in this decision.
>> There's a lot of information to take in.
There's so many PDAs. There's so much
going on. There's so many things to scan
and like it's all happening at once. So,
I'm having a little bit of a hard time
picking up on everything.
But I mean, it's early access anyway.
It's not finished regardless. But man, I
I adore.
Look at that [screaming] guy. It's the
Metang. What's the Pokemon? The third
evolution. Metang is one of them, isn't
it? Um, but yeah, I adore how this
looks. This world is so cool. It doesn't
really have as many biomes so far as
uh Subnotica 1. So one had like, "Oh,
I'm in the mushroom place and I'm in the
the plant place, the seaweed kind of
area, the kelp forest." So, so far it
hasn't really been like that, but maybe
that's a good thing. Also, look at this.
How this warps as you walk towards it.
That's cool.
So, what's making this out
something to find?
I think I don't think I I went
everywhere in here.

and go up there. Oh, sonic resonator.
Nice. Can I fight back now?
Can I kill the things that may not be

There's a thing above me.
I'm so paranoid about missing things.
>> Yes.

Don't have a dining chair. Do now.
Oh, where am I? Oh,
what's all the There's a bunch of like
little orange dots on my

these, but all I'll get for it is
titanium, and I don't want that.
Can't hold it anyway.

deserve a chance to live.
>> Damn.
Somebody killed them all.
Okay, that's a pretty thorough sweep of
this place now.
>> Seal the bulkhead. Keep the fire away
from the lab.
You guys did not.

the starfrog workuit to the scout ray

air supply oxygen for [ __ ] sake holding
is a good way to train up your
conscientiousness and self-isipline.
Wait, maybe I didn't hear that right.
Are they saying that the tadpole is like
modular?
That you can put kind of like wings on
it to turn it into a sea moth or you can
put legs on it and turn it into the
mantis
or the prawn suit. Not the mantis.
I was thinking praying mantis. Praying
prawn. Oo.
Distraction flare. Go.
Holy [ __ ] It worked.
Eat flare, you tyrannosaurus [ __ ]
Okay, I got a lot of stuff on that trip.
That was very helpful for me.
I liked that. Wait, I haven't been in
this cave.
I need to get some [ __ ] flippers,
man. Are you alive? Oh, that's what you
guys are. Bits of the crabs.
You guys have crabs.
Sonic Risner, I have you. Oh, [ __ ] A
new battery. Nice. What the hell is
this?
Bloom sap.
I so desperately need a new oxygen tank.
Did you get hit?
Is he bullying you? I'll make a sonic
resonator and kill him.
I feel like I've missed so many things.
Like I'm trying to be thorough at least,
but I'm also trying to just give into my
urges of exploration,
which you should. It's fun.
But it also might be hindering me in my
ability to
go in a constructive pattern.
>> Oxygen.
>> Uh-huh.
I'm aware of it.
Seems like it's always [ __ ]
nighttime. Make the night time shorter.
I don't want nighttime all the time.
I shouldn't say that though because I
don't want it to seem like I I don't
want to say stuff in a video and then
have the developers watch it and go,
"Oh, we need to cater to streamers and
YouTubers." Because a lot of developers
do do that. When the community doesn't
actually want that. I want what's best
for the community and what's best for
the game, not for my own YouTube videos.
[snorts]
Um, what am I working on? I don't know
what I'm doing anymore.
I've lost the will to think.
That's camp one. Does that mean I
definitely missed some stuff over there?
Okay, that's good to know at least.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Thank you.
I miss when you say captain, though. Can
you call me captain?
Which one's empty?
What do I need to replace off
replace? Is it empty?
I don't know. Oh, wait. You can turn
into fiber.
No power. Great.
It had to become nighttime.
Need to make that bioreactor I got.
I need rubber. Silicone.
Silicone will make rubber. How do I get
silicone?
Lucifer rotsac. I should have just gone
TO THIS ALREADY.
OH, Lucifer rottack, you piece of [ __ ]
Now, which one was that again?
Oh god. Which one was the Lucifer
rottack?
Is it you?
No. You're toxic sponge.
I know a few people in my life that you
could call them that.
Lucifer Rodack. Where did I see that?
[ __ ] I made such a funny Oh, it's this,
right?
Made such a funny joke about it earlier,
too.
>> Do not hesitate to use alien life forms

>> Bro, I've been doing this for [ __ ]
ages already. Been recording for what,
like an hour and 40 minutes?
I think I figured it out.
Damn, I could have had this so much
earlier. I'm not paying attention. I'm
getting overwhelmed by the beauty that
is this world.
Is it one or two? I need two.
You know, I should just turn it all into
stuff.
Okay, now I just need silver. Where am I
going to find silver that's not
indestructible to me yet?
Maybe over by camp one again. Camp rock.
Camp one. Do I just have them equipped?
Yes. How much faster am I?
I I barely notice the difference. Simply
the diving fins that provide a small
speed boost. You're not joking about the
small.
Am I going faster? This is imperceptible
to me.
Whoa, look at that glow.
Don't glow, though. It makes me feel
like I have stuff to get there again,
and I don't.
Oh [ __ ] Oh [ __ ] I didn't even see him.
I was looking at the bubble.
Yeah, cuz I can't interact with this,
right? No.
Okay, I'm going back to camp one. I want
to see if there is actually anything
back here.
I also [cough and clears throat] love
how I went up to a plant and I was like,
"You look like fiber. I already had
fiber.
I already had been knowing that."
Stupid toxic sponge.
Oxygen, please. Thank you. Oh god.
Ow.
Oh god.
Oh god. OH [ __ ] THAT dodge came in
clutch. Hya.
Jesus. That scared me.
Oh, right. I can't get in here. How do
How do I do this?
There's another entrance
door down there.
Ah. Ah, okay. I need oxygen. I need
oxygen tunic.
Where is it?
Air bubble.
Air bubble. Air bubble.
AIR. YEAH, [screaming]
BABY.
I should have just gone to the surface.
[laughter]
Christ.
Okay.
I think there was a closer one, too, and
I couldn't find it.
Ah, I'm in.
Damn it. Okay, blackbox. It's Tuba. I'm
trapped by a marrow breach. I don't have
any flares. I'm not getting eaten. The
cook will not be eaten. I'd rather run
out of air. Habitat's gone. Chap
blasted. He blew up the beds. Some of us
made it out with Ganzo. I'm sorry,
Ganzo. I said I was going back to
Habitat, but I'm going to find the
Jubilee, and I don't think they can feed
you all. I'm sorry, man. I left you. I
don't know where I'm going to reprint. I
don't know what I remember. Look, if I
find this, the Jubilee went south to the
cave where the crabs die. Do you
understand? the cave where the crab
>> south to the cave where the crabs die.
I mean, I'm heading south, but I've
maybe gone a little too south now.
Oh,
have flare.
Oh, so distracted. So beautiful, isn't
it? Yeah, dumbass.
Okay, I'm hoping I can go back and talk
to Noah.
They'll have some new information, but I
also need to just start building more
[ __ ] I need to find a a place to get
silver. I think I just need to go
further a field. I haven't really been
going out that far.
And that's not how you learn and grow as
a person.
Anything?
I printed 26 colonists before the sleep
bay drowned. Many of them more than
once.
>> Okay, that's the same thing as before.
Yeah, silver. I can get an air tank.
That'll help.
An air bladder.
Let me see if there's anything
else I can build with this.
A processor completes complex biio
biochemical and manufacturing tasks over
time for more advanced recipes.
Okay. Well, that's very useful. Then
what about like the scanner station?
What was that all about?
Scanner station. Mission critical.
Locates resources, wrecks, and anomalies
with an expanded range high power draw.
Oh, yeah. And the first game it was like
a little drone you sent out
processor.
>> Power connected. All systems online.
Welcome aboard.
>> Not going to fit.
Bro, I need Oh, I need mild acid. I
thought I had that.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> It was acting like I could build it
already. Huh.
Did I leave anything in this?
Oh, cuz it's maybe I've Yeah, it's
drawing from the lockers
like it said it would.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Still can't [ __ ] put it anywhere.
Oh.
Oh, I thought I saw it go green for like
a split second.
Let me place in this surface.
Do I just need another Do I just need it
to be bigger?
I don't have any like square root. Oh, I
do. Oh, I do. Now I do.
[ __ ] yeah.
Yes. Big room.
What is this all about?
Whoa. You can add like tiny pieces to
it.
Is that what I did? I added just like a
slice.
Oh, that's a much more sophisticated
system.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Nice.
It'll make my rooms all asymmetrical
though. Now, this is like two pieces
wide and this is one. Oh, I'm going to
piss myself off with that.
Okay. a processor. Go.
No. Go there.
I'm gonna need more power.
So, is this like a research station?
I I don't know what this does.
Huh?
I thought it was like you put you
you put stuff in and it processes
stuff out.
I'm not really sure how that works.
Processor output.
I mean, maybe I'll leave it. Maybe it'll
make some Wow, cool.
Maybe it'll be able to make some stuff.
Um, I need some quartz.
Oh god, all [ __ ] turned around. I
still need more quartz.
What about down in here?
Y'all got any quartz sign around?
No. Lots of titanium though.
Some copper. I guess I should grab you.
Guess if I build a scanner station, I
can search for silver, right?
Maybe that's what it's trying to get me
to do.
My eyes are not attuned.
Can't see any quartz anywhere. Oh,
never mind.
Some quartz hanging out in the coral
dough.
I've basically made a [ __ ] That's what
my base is so far.
It's hard not to.
Oh, and then you get close to your base.
It went from zero titanium to 13.
Okay. How much power is that? 16. I feel
like I should just build one more
oxygen.
>> Like I'm going to need all the power
eventually anyway, so why not just do it
now?
Although, I guess I can make a
bioreactor eventually.
Whoa. Chill out. Chill the [ __ ]
beans, man. I'm not here to [ __ ] with
you.
Uh, bolab.
I guess I didn't have that yet. A wiring
kit and a system chip.
Yeah, you ain't getting those from me,
homere.
>> Okay, cool.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Thank you. That's lots of [ __ ] Now,
what if I put some
again? I don't know what this is doing.
This could be doing all manners of [ __ ]
Let Hold on. Let me read up on what it
says again.
Uh, let me find it in here.
processor completes complex biochemical
and manufacturing tasks over time for
more advanced recipes.
I just thought it was like put [ __ ] in,
get
get knowledge out,
but I have no idea what it does.
Probably using it wrong.
What's more likely? That the thing
doesn't do anything yet or that it's
user error? I'm putting my money on user
error.
I need some
Oh, don't drink that.
Damn, that wasn't enough.
I need to go hunt. The hunt is on.
Now I can grab [ __ ] so easy cuz I can
boost after it.
Oh, can't grab you.
Oh, you guys are too cute to be
drinking.
You ever just see a homie so cute you
don't want to drink him?
Me when I'm a terrible person.
Come here. Come here, [ __ ]
Um, are these the ones half moons? No,
it was wax moons that I needed.
Is that you?
>> Oxygen.
>> I don't care about oxygen.
Need to get some moons.
Half moon. Harvest moon. Blue moon.
Where the wax moons at?
Or was it a wax moon? Hold on. Let me
check my fabricator.
Where was the grease? Wiring kit needs
silver. Everything needs [ __ ] silver.
[snorts]
Lucifer Rodack just makes grease.
Oh,
okay then.
I hear thunder.
Let's go get some more Lucifer rottacks
then. Make some grease.
It's It's just weird cuz I've had
Lucifer rottacks before, so I thought it
would be like this. The fact that it has
a big requires fully functional
fabricator. Oh,
that's why
cuz I was like, why are these marked
off? Why can't I do it?
Quake maker. Oh, fully functional
fabricator.
Where do I make a repair tool? Didn't I
get Oh, I didn't I don't think I got the
full recipe for it.
Okay, Lucifer rots.
Actually, does it matter now? Cuz I
can't do it.
Which means if I can't do that, then I
can't get the wiring kit, which means I
can't make the scanner station. So, I
can't search for silver. So, I'm just
going to have to look around on my own.
Maybe something fell down here.
Oh, yeah. Oh, but that's so the
scariness.
I'm going to get it and I'm going to be
scared.
The hell is making that sound?
You look like something.
You look like something indeed.
Tadpole fragment. Yes,
dude. When I get the tadpole, it's over
for [music] you [ __ ]
Oh, I need to be very careful. Oh, that
got really scary out of nowhere.
>> I actually don't know if I'm able to
make it back up.
Oh god.
Oh, I can't.
[snorts]
Yeah, that's a scary one. Can't really
go back down there.
And you're the wax moon. I can't do
anything to you.
Sorry, bud.
Beating the [ __ ] out of him for no
reason.
All right. Where haven't I been? There's
some areas over here that I feel like I
haven't fully explored. Like going down
there,
please. Sir, may I have some silver?
I can stay down here for maybe 5 seconds
longer. Whoa.
Turn into [ __ ] kid all of a sudden.
Whoa.
Oh, I'm going to need a flare for sure.
>> The peak final broom is produced by an
infected angel comb. The comb contains
useful adaptations, but it must be
cleared of virus. Treatment must begin
with the juvenile combs nearby.
Following infected rock bors may lead
you to these juveniles. Caution. This
angel comb has been converted into
oxygen and must be cured to gain access
to new adaptations.
>> What the [ __ ] are you talking about?
This has been converted to oxygen.
[laughter]
I mean, you just said a whole bunch of
[ __ ]
which is fine. I just don't know if that
means, oh, you can do something now or
come back way later when you figure out
how to cure this [ __ ]
Ooh, pretty. This is a new area.
Ooh.
>> Biomass in this region is dominated by a
single species of large jelly. Simple
ecosystems are often a sign of
ecological crisis.
>> H why?
Can I get in here?
Sure. Doing a lot of getting around
here, but can I get in?
Those doors are all locked up.
Damn.
Well, that angel entered a viral plan.
All other microbial life in the seawater
is dead. Use the sonic resonator to
expune broom anchors and clear the
infection.
>> OKAY. WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA,
WHOA. HOLY [ __ ]
I didn't realize you were that close to
me.
Okay, they're fighting each other.
That's fine. Let them fight like kaiju.
Feather kelp.
Okay, sonic resonator. I have I just
need to build one.
oxygen.
>> But I feel like I would have built it
already if I had the right materials.
You know what I'm saying?
What is this? Hello.
Just a beacon. Huh?
Okay, well, at least that thing's marked
on my map now.
I [snorts] should pin some recipes.
That's what I should be doing. I'm I'm
getting
lost in the sauce a little bit, but
pinning stuff will help me quite a bit
cuz then I'll know exactly what
resources I'm looking for at all times.
So, the sonic resonator is not here. Oh,
it is. I need lead. I need a wiring kit.
Pin. pin.
Um,
where's fully functioning fabricator? Do
are you not fully functioning? Is the
one in my thing fully functioning?
>> Oh, Jesus. Oh, God.
>> Welcome aboard.
>> Oh,
silly, silly me.
Sugar of Saturn.
It's food.
Okay, that's much better. I need strong
acid.
I make strong acid.
Make mild acid.
Can I put mild acid together with more
acid to make strong acid? I don't have a
recipe for strong acid. Maybe that's
what my thing down here can be used for
since I don't know what the [ __ ] it's
doing.
Oh
[laughter]
god.
Okay.
Processing time 30 seconds. Necrolyst.
Gotcha.
Bile acid out of processor. Acidic rayon
pouch.
Okay.
>> Warning. Power offline.
>> Oh, for [ __ ] sake. It's night time.
That makes so much more sense. Okay, now
I know how it works.
Wait. So, what's this for then? Oh,
that's where the stuff I make goes.
Guys, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. It
even said output. And I said it out loud
and it just it was not clicking. I'm So,
here's how I operate when I play games.
I twiddle the knobs and I push the
buttons. I lift the levers and I move
[ __ ] around and then it instinctively
starts making sense to me before I start
reading the instructions. I do that with
everything in life. I'll buy a thing for
drums and I'm like, I don't really know
how this works and I start [ __ ]
around with it and I'm like, okay, I've
kind of like figured out bits and pieces
on my own. So now I'm more prepared to
figure out what the instructions are
telling me. I don't know if other people
do that. It's obviously a very
neurodeivergent. Whoa, cool.
It's a very neurode divergent thing to
do. But
yeah, [laughter]
it is what it is. I am the way I am.
And what I am is something special.
Tray not empty.
>> Power connected. All systems online.
>> Okay.
>> Power offline.
>> What?
>> Power connected. All systems online.
>> Okay. Can I take everything? Can I move
item to other? Oh, because it's full.
Well, let me put some stuff in here for
now.
So, what do we need for this? A necroly
cyst.
Where in god's name am I going to get
that? Concentrated acid. Very dangerous.
Use as a metal cleaner.
Bofuel blocks. Ooh, I have pint
from fibrous pulp. I don't need that yet
because I don't have a bioreactor, but
it's cool that you can make uh
briquettes for it. Wa, that lighting is
so [ __ ] nice.
[snorts] Um,
okay, figuring it out a bit more now.
What else did Lucifer Rodack do?
Rubber.
I have some rubber. I'll make some
grease.
feel like it's going to be necessary
when we start building machinery.
Um, okay. I feel a bit better now
knowing kind of how stuff works.
So, I need that thing, which I don't
know if I've seen a plant, the
necrolyst.
I don't know if I've seen a plant that
has that looks like that.
Bit of a problem, don't you think?
I mean, it has to be somewhere, right?
Is that it?
You kind of look like the picture. Not
really.
The disease is odd.
>> My god, she's talking to me.
Bloom bofilm. Okay, I need the sonic
resonator to get rid of that [ __ ]
All right, that's down in here. Okay,
that's cool though, that her voice
permeates. It's very
Have you ever seen the movie Sunshine?
Kind of feels like that.
Hey Reees,
I wish it wasn't night time all the
time. Anytime I want to do anything.
>> The Netic Advisor has transmitted an
alert.
>> What?
>> Return to the life port at
[music and singing] your convenience.
>> Oh, okay.
At my convenience, which will be in a
while cuz I'm all the way over here. Oh,
right. You [ __ ]
I didn't realize that's where I was. Ow.
All right. What's up, Noah.

brought flares. Stupid.
>> Do you remember when she stole that
fried dough from her brother and offered
it to you?
>> No.
>> Right in front of him. An egregious act
of sisterhood.
>> Signal location uploaded to PDA. Be
cautious. Seawater viral load increases
sharply out west of the life pod.
>> Out west. Oh, that's where the things
keep stabbing me. Okay. Well, I'm going
to leave this episode here. I know we
got some stuff done and the last like 20
minutes are me arsing around and not
really knowing where I'm going. But now
I I figured things out a bit better and
it's all a bit clearer in my head now.
But we we have a lot to do and I don't
want to rush through stuff. It's it's
nice to have Subnotica back and it's so
fun to look at everything and it looks
so nice and everything's just so fun to
do again. It feels so fun to have a
Subnotica that's all brand new again.
What a time to be alive. Uh but yeah,
I'm going to try and upload these
episodes daily. That's my plan for now.
Uh but I do have a big trip coming up.
Um so I'll get as many of them done as I
can now. And I don't know how much is in
the game. I don't know how much. We
might have 6 hours of content. We might
have 20. I have no idea. But for now,
I'm going to leave this episode here.
Thank you so much for watching. Stay
tuned for more and welcome back to
Subnautious.
I am sucking on my wiener. [singing] I
am sucking on a winner. Yeah.
